Prior to late last year, we had never heard of Rail Explorers. Our friends Dan and Becky came to us with the idea to go to Iowa for a weekend to check out the location in Boone. We really didn’t know what to expect, but it sounded like fun, so we were in.
In late-May, we spent a few days in St. Louis with the kids and grandkids. We had a great time, and wanted to share a little about the places that we visited so that it may help with your next trip there.
From the quiet, rolling plains of Nebraska to the rugged, iconic landscapes of South Dakota, this road trip reminded us why we love the open road. It wasn’t just about the destinations—it was about the space in between, the wide skies, and the freedom to slow down and take it all in.
